The Church of “Santiago” or the Church of St. James the Elder in Ecija, Sevilla Province, is considered the most interesting buildings and one of the most elegant churches in all of Andalusia. The “Palacio de los Granados”
Our friends Paul and Francisco fell in love with Ecija and this eighteenth century structure in at first sight. Even though it had been closed for over 70 years, they took up the task of restoring it and turning it into the Palacio de los Granados in honor of the beautiful pomegranate trees found in the yard on that first visit. Guild of Silk – Écija
The House of the Guild of Silk dates back to the XVIII century originally built in the Baroque style. In its facade we can observe the exterior open arches and baseboards ornamented with paintings “al fresco” which were recently restored. This building was erected primarily the main location for trade for the territory, nationally and even foreign. The silk and linen industry was a most prosperous one for the city of Écija.
“Écija” at Night
Nocturnal “Écija” with its many towers and belfries lit. Originally known as “Astigi”, “Écija” is a Spanish town within the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. It is located between Seville and Cordoba. Considered to be one of the most rich cultural and historic center of Spain resting upon the remains of Roman, Visigoths and Moorish cultures.
Palace of Justice in Écija
The Palace of Justice in Écija of the Province of Seville was inspired on the “Alhambra” of Granada. It is of the XX Century and original belonged to two local sisters nicknamed “las Tomasas” This is the reason why the building is commonly referred to as the Palace of the “Tomasas”. The sisters had been so impressed with the “Alhambra” that they incorporated many of the elements they had seen into this structure. Currently, the building is the cede for the City’s Justice Department and continues to be one of the buildings most admired by tourists and visitors of the city.
Saint Francis Church in Écija

Saint John the Baptist Church of Écija
The Saint John the Baptist Church of Écija, in the province of Seville, Spain is of a Gothic-Moorish style, consisting of three naves covered in a wooden framework and a masonry headboard. The Sacramental Chapel is adjoined to the Epistle nave. Throughout the XVI and XVII centuries, the constant renovations significantly modified the appearance of the structure’s interior.
