On the Plaza of the Capuchin Monks in Cordoba, Spain and nearby to the ” Cristo de los Faroles” landmark we encountered the main quarters to Brotherhood of Our Lady of Sorrows (“Hermandad de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores”). This Brotherhood began early during the XVIII century with the founding in Cordoba of the “Nuestra Señora de los Dolores” congregation as a Secular Third Order. Our Lady of Sorrows is oftenly referred to as the “Lady of Cordoba”. An important date associated with this image is known as “Friday of Sorrows”. Over the past three centuries, the Brotherhood or Society has jept alive important religious activities such as the Holy Week Procession, the Seven days of prayer during Lent and on September 15th. the Patron holiday.
