All the building materials of the nineteenth century architecture were used in the construction of the Palace of Exhibitions or better known as the “Palacio de Velázquez” in the “Retiro” Park in Madrid. Among them we find: the granite stone, the brick, the multicolored ceramic, the stucco, the iron, the zinc.
The architect Ricardo Velázquez Bosco counted with the collaboration of the engineer Alberto del Palacio who assumed the technical responsibilities and Bernardo Asins, builder and assembler of the metallic structure of the building.
The Mining Exhibition was inaugurated by King Alfonso XII, on May 30, 1883, accompanied by the sovereign of Portugal Luis I. It is said to be the most important event held at the time in Spain. Today it continues to be used as an exhibition hall.
