Of architectural Mannerist and Baroque elements, the Church of the Holy Cross was erected in the 17th century by order of Jerónimo Portilo, founder of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross.
It is said that the construction of the temple was possible thanks to the alms that the devotees collected.
Only the facade of the original church remains.
The Church was demolished in 1734 in order to be rebuilt again, completing the works in 1739.
