Escuchar el apellido Gaudí, hace que de repente uno se detenga, se remonte a Barcelona y se asomen en la memoria la Iglesia de La Sagrada Familia, la Casa Batlló, la Casa Milá, el Parque Güell, entre otras obras de esa arquitectura tan diferente y hermosa a la vez. Estructuras donde Gaudí combinó magistralmente la decoración, el simbolismo y la funcionalidad, la comodidad y la habitabilidad de los espacios interiores. La Plaza del Cabildo – Sevilla, España
Uno de esos lugares en Sevilla que no se puede perder la oportunidad de visitar es la Plaza del Cabildo. Para llegar a ella, que se encuentra un tanto escondida en el barrio del Arenal, al lado de la Catedral, entramos desde la Avenida de la Constitución. Al llegar a esta pequeña placita, se nos dibujó una sonrisa, no tan solo por lo bonita que pueda ser, es que resulta ser un oasis en época de verano para guardarse un poco de las altas temperaturas de Sevilla. Al estar un tanto oculta del bullicio, es el lugar perfecto para refrescarse y recargar las baterías para continuar disfrutando de esta gran ciudad. «La Plaza del Cabildo» – Seville, Spain
One of those places in Seville that you cannot miss out on is the «Plaza del Cabildo». Access is somewhat hidden, but it is located in the Arenal neighborhood, close to the Cathedral. We entered from «Avenida de la Constitución». When we arrived at this small square, a smile surged on our faces, not only because of how beautiful it can be, but it turns out to be an oasis in the summer time and provides us with a little relief from the high temperatures of Seville. Being somewhat hidden from the hustle and bustle, it is the perfect place to cool off and recharge your batteries to continue enjoying this great city. The Jewel of the «Santa Catalina» Palace
«Ignorance is bliss», a very popular phrase that is used when people do certain actions (whatever they are), ignoring the good or bad consequences that may result from said action. We can say that something of this sort has happened with the staircase, dome and the structure that supports the «State» Staircase of the Santa Catalina Palace found on the grounds of La Fortaleza in Old San Juan, in Puerto Rico. A jewel that in 2015 was returned closely to its splendor of the 19th century.
This structure not only faced natural deterioration over the years as caused by time, humidity or pollutants, but also faced the worst of interventions, a product of ignorance, when it was covered countless times with thick layers of ordinary paint, hiding its original coloring and beauty.
Thanks to the restoration efforts of committed professionals and students, in 2015, the ignorance boldly embodied in the staircase through the years, was returned as close as possible to its origins in the year 1845, when Puerto Rico was a Overseas Province of Spain. Today, the Santa Catalina Palace and its staircase are a heritage site of Puerto Rico and a world heritage site, declared by UNESCO.
La Joya del Palacio de Santa Catalina
“La ignorancia es atrevida”, una frase muy popular que se dice cuando las personas hacen ciertas acciones (las que sean), con desconocimiento de las consecuencias buenas o malas que puedan resultar de dicha acción. Algo así, podemos decir que fue lo que sucedió con la escalera, cúpula y la estructura que sostiene la Escalera de Estado del Palacio de Santa Catalina en La Fortaleza del Viejo San Juan, en Puerto Rico. Una joya que en el 2015 fue devuelta a lo más cercano de su esplendor en el Siglo XIX.
Esta estructura, no solo se enfrentó a través de los años al deterioro natural producto del tiempo, de la humedad o contaminantes, sino que se enfrentó a la peor de las intervenciones, producto del desconocimiento, cuando fue pintada innumerables veces con capas gruesas de pintura regular ocultando su colorido y belleza original.
Gracias a los esfuerzos de restauración de profesionales y estudiantes comprometidos, en el año 2015, la ignorancia atrevidamente plasmada en la escalera a través de los años, pudo regresar a lo más cercano de sus orígenes en el año 1845, cuando Puerto Rico era una provincia de ultramar de España. Hoy, el Palacio de Santa Catalina y su escalera, son patrimonio de Puerto Rico y patrimonio de la humanidad, declarado por la UNESCO.

The «Nazionale Centrale di Firenze» Library was created in 1885 to replace the “Magliabechiana” library of the year 1747.
