The Rossio Railway Station was our point of departure point for our adventure to the charming city of Sintra in Portugal.
This neomanuelino style structure is worthy of contemplation and admiration. The facade and main entrance to the station has two beautiful arches in the shape of horseshoes.
The exterior of the building hides the station which is actually located above on the hill of the “Barrio Alto” Ward, blending the uneven terrain. Actually, the building allows the pedestrian passage from the historic center and the Baixa on the plain to the hill of the “Barrio Alto” Ward.
On the upper level, the building has a viewpoint. The platform roof is built of wrought iron, the work of Gustave Eiffel.
