Upon entering Villa d’Este, one is lead to an inner courtyard that borders “Chiesa Santa Maria Maggiore”. In this courtyard is the first of many beautiful fountains that one will find in the “Villa d’Este”.
The Fontana di Venere or Fountain of Venus was built in travertine by the master Fiorentino Raffaello Sangallo in the 16th century. The Fountain has many details and intends to narrate the achievement of the eleventh test by Hercules. Present we also find the image of Emperor Constantine.
