This is a view of the Saint Mary Magdalene of Pazzi Cemetery in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico from one of the port holes of the «San Felipe del Morro» fort walls. This cemetery which dates back to colonial Spain was constructed in 1863. This is the final resting place for many prominent Puerto Ricans.
The «Plaza de España» of Madrid is home to a Monument to Cervantes. The work of Rafael Martínez Zapatero and Lorenzo Cullaut Valera was unveiled in 1915. This Plaza or Square is located in the middle of the city has a fountain and pond within a garden area. The square is flanked by two of the city’s most emblematic buildings, The Tower of Madrid and the Building of Spain which jointly make up one of the city’s most interesting architectural complexes.

When entering the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Incarnation in Granada, one is impressed by its size and grandeur with its Corinthian Columns with such a perfect and harmonious balance, a marvelous sight. It’s architect from «Burgos», Master Siloe (1528-1563) departs from the traditional European and Spanish Gothic styles, adopting a Roman style, with its classical proportions while achieving harmonious interior scale. In doing so, Siloe paves the way for the trend to be followed by later architects in Andalusia and the Americas. The construction of the Corinthian Columns would take over thirty-five years, work began in 1533.
La Iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Écija, provincia de Sevilla, España, es de estilo gótico-mudéjar y costa de tres naves cubiertas por armadura de madera y cabecera poligonal de cantería. La Capilla Sacramental está adosada a la nave de la Epístola. A lo largo de los Siglos XVI y XVII las reformas continuas, cambiaron significativamente la fisonomía interna del edificio. The Saint John the Baptist Church of Écija, in the province of Seville, Spain is of a Gothic-Moorish style, consisting of three naves covered in a wooden framework and a masonry headboard. The Sacramental Chapel is adjoined to the Epistle nave. Throughout the XVI and XVII centuries, the constant renovations significantly modified the appearance of the structure’s interior. The name of this site might seem curious. «La Viajera y El Mochilero» intends to highlight some unique peculiarities shared by many that such as us, take the leap to create their own personalized trips. It is an attempt to be different from typical tourists, travelers or hikers.
We shall share experiences from our most recent travels, that over time shall be many. We will include photos, stories, anecdotes, tips and recommendations.

Inaugurada en 1919, la Estación Ferroviaria de Toledo fue declarada “Bien de Interés Cultural”, con la categoría de monumento el 21 de noviembre de 1991. Es obra del arquitecto Narciso Clavería y su estilo es neomudéjar. Para su construcción se usó ladrillo, piedra, hierro y cemento. Through the organization Puerto Rico Historic Building Drawings Society (PRHBDS) and unknowingly, their walking tours prepared us when the time came to cross the sea to the Old World.
