Right beside the Gateway of Santiago and as part of the old College and Seminary of Santiago we find the “Capela de Nossa Senhora da Torre” or Chapel of Our Lady of the Tower of Braga, Portugal.
Along with the Arch, the Tower of Santiago served as a lookout point as well as the entrance to the city in medieval times.
The chapel was built in thanksgiving to the Virgin for the protection of the city during the great earthquake of 1755.
Bell tower that crowns the facade.
